| Huanggang is neighboring Anhui in the east and Henan in the north, facing Jiujiang of Jiangxi province on the opposite Yangtze bank in the south ,and adjacent to Wuhan, the capital town of Hubei Province in the west ,which is historically known as the head of Wu-state and the tail of Chu-state and the East gate of Hubei Province. In Chinese economic coordinates, Huanggang positions a place of the east-west joining part of three grand economies in China in new century. It is connecting with Yangtze River-delta in the east and Pearl River-delta in the south, relying on the grand three-gorges in the west and continuing with the Central Plain of the country in the north. It is the core constituent part of the city-group around Wuhan.
