| Huanggang city is developed in undertaking of education. There are 4,696 schools which enrolled 1,791,400 students at various level and of various sorts in the city. There are 2 universities, 2junior colleges, 31 secondary technical schools, 61 senior high schools and 1.303 junior high schools, 2,667 primary schools, 1,346 adult cultural and technical training schools, 175 private educational institutions. Huanggang presents outstanding in fundamental education achievement. Students from Huanggang have won 14 times of NO.1 in Hubei competition region¡¯s team competition in national junior high school mathematics competition; and won 17 times of No.1 of Hubei competition region¡¯s team competition in national senior high school mathematics competition. Six golden medals, 4 silvery medals and 1 copper medal have been won by students of Huanggang High School participating in the High School Students¡¯ International Olympics Competition in Scientific Subjects.
