Huanggang has been endowed with magnificent inner cultural essences. After those passing dynasties, a great number of famous literatures works are left by celebrated literati and poets as Li Bai, Du Mu, Su shi, Li Zhi, wu Chengen. It is the holy land of the Buddhism growing into a constituent part of Chinese civilization, the Originator-ancestor of Buddhism IV, V and VI embracing the religion with their career starting from the land, featuring the long lasting Chan sect culture of Buddhism and the endlessness of pilgrims in the ancestor court. It is the original place of Anhui opera, and it is spread with the state appointed home of the poem, home of the couplet, home of the peasant printing, and home of the athlete, and with the wide-reputed county of generals, county of professors and neighborhood of doctors. The tradition featuring respecting the intellects and emphasizing education and the life-stile of farming and learning has cultivated the people in Huanggang and set in the morality of honesty and their fondness of learning and the open-and temperate-minded. |
